The Miniature American Shepherds are a new breed descended from Australian Shepherds. They were recognised by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in June 2012. Originally they were known as Miniature Australian Shepherds. They were not recognized by the ANKC (Australian National Kennel Council) until July 2022.
